In this example, we have told the computer to print, “This shouldn’t happen” only if “a” is greater than 5. If it is less than 5, the computer has been told to print,

“This should happen”.

“elif” is a shorter way of saying “else if”. If the “if” statement is not true, “elif” can be used to tell computer what is to be done when conditions are fulfilled.

Perhaps the most important thing you must remember is that you must include a colon at the end of any line that has an “elif2, and “if”, and “else” or a “while” in it.
